Never in my wildest did I think I would end up in a career whereby researching snake venom was another day at the office.
I am no Bindi Irwin or Bear Grylls, that’s for sure. But recently, snake venom has been creeping up on the cosmetic counter and wrapping itself around my curious brain. Which sounds more painful than it actually is.
We know that Katie Holmes dabbles; apparently it’s her preference for getting a freeze on facial wrinkles. Cheaper and less invasive than an injection, synthetic snake venom when applied topically paralyses the skin by blocking communication to the surface that tells skin there to crinkle and crease when someone has cracked a funny.
Sounds clever, because it is. The results are ever so subtle, including a tighter appearance to the epidermis whilst all the natural nuances of life still get past the gates.
The latest snake venom offering has me most excited, as like the best products in the world it does a multitude of things all whilst standing on its head. Okay, its lid. And for those of you wanting to try a BB cream but are looking for something with added anti-ageing benefits, this could be for you.
I speak of Rodial BB Venom Skin Tint SPF15, $59.50, Feel Unique.
I love anything Rodial. Renya Xydis – who is not only a kick-ass hair honcho but happens to defy the signs of time on all levels – first put me onto it eons ago. And you know what they say about a beauty tip hand-balled to you by a beauty heavyweight? ‘Catch!’
The latest in the brand line is the innovative skin tint, which goes beyond the regular skincare snake products to date.
The product is built upon a BB cream format, which is then infused with SYN®-AKE, a powerful dipeptide to plump skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. The neuropeptide physically inhibits neuro-mediators implicated in the contraction of innervated muscle cells, thus providing a mild botox-like effect on a brilliantly believable level. The tint concurrently eases out skin imperfections and flaws while SPF does its nifty sun-protection trick.
Not one to rest on it’s laurels, Rodial has also infused their BB Venom Skin Tint SPF15 with ‘hyaluronic filling spheres’ to volumise the skin and decrease the appearance of fine lines and ‘hydromanil’ which provides 24 hour hydration by retaining water in the skin.
Other brands that do venom well are Wrinkle Venom, $59.95, Wrinkle Venom and Skinstitut, with their Eye Believe, Retinol, Rejuvenate 15, Moisture Defence Normal Skin and Moisture Defence Dry Skin, which all containing high concentrations of SYN®-AKE. available from Skinstitut.
